Do you have guiding principles, or do you live your life haphazardly? Hear us well: There are no “shoulds.” However, we daresay that if you have a certain set of principles to remind you who you are and what is important, you will live a more purposeful life. Once you have identified those principles, hold them in your heart and test them there. Are they ego-based, or based on unity? Do they engender the qualities of the soul, such as peace, love, and joy, or do they engender separation? Principles that add to the growth of the soul and the growth of the whole need not become rigid, for there are many which serve the purpose of growth. Change them if they no longer stir the heart, but find them and use them, won’t you? We love you so.
Note from Suzanne: This message came after I was contemplating the four principles I recently put in writing for myself. I am going to share them here, and I think it would be great if many of you would list your current guiding principle(s) in the comment section below (If you are reading this by email, click here to go to the post). I’ll bet we come up with an amazing list to help us all learn and grow together. Thank you for this idea, Sanaya!
My principles:
– Don’t take yourself seriously
– It’s not about you
– Give all credit to Spirit
– Love is all that matters
“Your doubts are illusion”. This is my newest principle. Thank you Keith for sharing this message from your spirit guides.

I currently have 10 affirmations, or principles, that I recite each day. My focus various on different ones on different days (perhaps guided by spirit).
1. Love, have compassion, forgive (myself and others)
2. Be a diamond, reflecting Gods Love, Light, Joy, and Peace (I noticed the similar wording in Sanaya’s message today)
3. Know myself: What are my fears? What are my weaknesses and strengths? What am I supposed to learn and give during this incarnation?
4. Be my own champion: stand up for myself, do the things necessary to be successful spiritually and materially.
5. Be humble: learn from whomever I can, and know that I can learn more about anything.
6. Be courageous: don’t shy away from (emotionally) risky actions if they can benefit someone.
7. Be patient: we learn for eternity, and Spirit will teach when I am ready.
8. Be in the moment: so much is missed when the mind is elsewhere.
9. Be of service.
10. Be grateful for all that I have.
I choose and control my feelings.
Be kind to myself and others.
Always be learning and forgive.
We are ALL ONE LOVE.
Just Be
Gratitude
Stop Look Listen
Smile!
A smile, hands and a hug of peace and gratitude… with you, for you… from me.
Respect everyone’s journey
Love is the answer
Make choices with no regrets
Focus on the positive
– Being kind is better than being right.
1. Be grateful. Look for the gift/lesson in every person and situation.
2. Accept what I can’t change.
3. Listen more, judge less.
4. Ask for guidance.
“Be still and know that I am God”
If you can choose between being right and being kind, be kind.
– Love first…question later.
– Be kind, humble, and brave.
– Hold the love and light.
– Acknowledge and serve people. ?
Be of service.
I am love.
All is well.
Yes, love is all that matters, unconditional love from the heart.
We must always practice forgiveness, also from the heart, even and especially when its difficult.

I AM LOVE
I AM JOY
I AM GRATITUDE
I AM WITH ALL THAT IS
Lately, it’s been something Abraham Lincoln said: “Make sure you’re standing in the right place, then stand firm.”
I’ve been going through a few days of depression and rejection because I realized that I have been living for a future dream to happen. But once I put my ego aside I realize that I won’t find true happiness once that dream happens and I will be on to the next one, etc. The principle that I want to learn and hold tight to is to be grateful in the present, the now, simply for the gift of life so that I can learn to live more in the spirit with joy and peace.
I remind myself I am happy, safe and all my needs are being met in this moment. I try not to dwell on the past because it makes me feel sad. I get anxious when I imagine what the future holds. I concentrate on my breathing. Inhaling deeply followed by a long, slow exhale. I find it very difficult to live in the moment but when I am able to I find peace. Good luck in your journey.
Keep everything simple, if it’ too complex it’s my head talking and not my heart.
If I hear myself using “should” I know it’s old patterning/conditioning. When my heart speaks it says “yes” not “I should”.
When my answer is no that’s it. I don’t defend it or create a reason to make others feel uncomfortable.
Feel it all fully (but with a conscious mind). We label everything as good or bad and then push what we don’t like away. Truth is everything is a teacher that will passes through us.
Have been living these principles for the past year ++…….life changing!
I just found this post today and I love your comments about how to tell when it is your heart talking. Thank you for sharing your insights. Many blessings
Reminders to myself:
You are a spiritual being having a human experience!
Quit holding yourself to standards you would never hold anyone else to!
I love and honor myself exactly the way I am!
Laugh hard and laugh often!!
Get yourself out of the way!
And
This too shall pass.
And
Watch closely your thoughts.
And
It is not our place to judge!
You are stronger than you think. All is in divine order. There are no coincidences. What would love do ?
What’s in the way, is the way.
No doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Be honest with yourself and others
Be candid rather than say what you think others want to hear (but with compassion)
Let others know you believe in them (especially if you are leading them)
Let go of the need to control situations and those around you
Trust that things will always work out
Laugh often and don’t worry about what others think
Appreciate the beauty around you, even in the ordinary
Live each day as if it is your last
We’re all in this together.
Help one another, don’t hurt them.
Respect life and nature.
Be kind.
1. No judgement. Nothing is up to me. Everything is from Source.
2. There is only Love and the call for Love. And both are from me.
3. Be still. Surrender to stillness.
4. Love God and all that is.
5. Live as if you are dead. (That yourself out of the picture)
Stop worrying about what could go wrong.
Focus on what could go right.
Unconditional Love and Unity in diversity.
No more judgement and no more separation.
God(Spirit) grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change,
have the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. In my current life,
This prayer can be applied to any situation, thought process, aspiration or journey.
I have the same first two:
Don’t take it personally
It’s not about you
my other two are:
Be impeccable with your words
walk your talk
My favorite…..
IT IS WHAT IT IS…..
Be impeccable with your word (both about self and others)
Don’t take anything personally
Don’t make assumptions
Always do your best
Follow the Golden Rule
Forgive with compassion
– Love is All There Is
– Surrender and get out of the way
– “You Are a Myth!” (Thanks, Odin!)
– Serve Spirit with Love

My 4 Principles:
Love God (Spirit) first
Love others
Be thankful
Give a little bit (think Supertramp)
Strive for simplicity.
Ignore pettiness
Love all, even the unloveable
Live in the moment
Unite with Spirit
1- Pray constantly (often without words)
2- Consider carefully (in belief /in sight)
3- Observe meticulously (for the miraculous winks)
4- Pledge sincerely (as Divinity whispers)

–Always remember that I am an eternal being of light having a human experience for the purposes of gaining soul wisdom.
–All that happens in life is part of my soul’s education and presents an opportunity to learn and grow.
–In every situation, every moment, ask, “What would love do?” Our goal should be to live with constant gratitude and love–for others, for ourselves, for the planet.
–Separation from others is an illusion. We are all connected by love, woven into a vast tapestry of its power, and forever connected as part of God/Spirit/Source.
My guiding principles are the Scout Oath and Law, which I learned as a teenaged Sea Scout, But, as an adult I have found them to be even more helpful as the “moral compass” which modern society seems to lack.
For your consideration I have reprinted them below;
Alan (Sea Raven)
THE SCOUT OATH: “On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God AND my Country, to Obey the Scout Law, to help other people at all times, and to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight”.
NOTE: Your “best” is all you are expected to do, and “your honor” is how you feel about what you did each day, as you lay your head on your pillow each night.
THE SCOUT LAW:
1. TRUSTWORTHY: A scout’s honor is to be trusted. If he were to violate his honor by telling a lie, or by cheating, or by not doing exactly a given task when trusted upon his honor, he may be directed to hand over his scout badge.
2. LOYAL: A Scout is loyal to all to whom loyalty is due: His Scout Leader, his home, and parents and country.
3. HELPFUL: A Scout must be prepared at any time to save life, help injured persons, and share the home duties. He must DO AT LEAST ONE GOOD TURN for somebody EVERY DAY.
4. FRIENDLY: He is a friend to all and a brother to every other Scout.
5. COURTEOUS: He is polite to all, especially women, children, old people, and the weak and helpless. He must not take pay for being helpful or courteous.
6. KIND: A Scout is a friend to animals. He will not kill nor hurt any living creature needlessly, but will strive to save and protect all harmless life.
7. OBEDIENT: A Scout obeys his parents, Scoutmaster, Patrol Leader, and all other duly constituted authorities.
8. CHEERFUL: A Scout smiles whoever he can. His obedience to orders is prompt and cheery. He never shirks nor grumbles at hardships.
9. THRIFTY: A Scout does not wantonly destroy property, He works faithfully, wastes nothing, and makes the best use of his opportunities. He saves his money so that he may pay his own way, be generous to those in need, and helpful to worthy objects. He may work for pay, but must not receive tips for courtesies or Good Turns.
10. BRAVE: A Scout has the courage to face danger in spite of fear, and to stand up for the right against the coaxing of friends or the jeers or threats of enemies, and defeat does not down him.
11. CLEAN: A Scout keeps clean in body and thought, stands for clean speech, clean sport, clean habits, and travels with a clean crowd.
12. REVERENT: A Scout is reverent toward God. is faithful in his religious duties and respects the convictions of others in matters of custom and religion.
