If you can maintain presence whilst going through a challenging time, you will better maintain peace. How to do so? Move awareness from wild, fleeting thoughts of fear and doubt to a singular focus on the breath. Yes, take the actions necessary to carry out whatever tasks you are engaged in, but whilst doing so, breathe slowly, deeply, and rhythmically in and out. Imagine yourself paddling a boat on a still lake to a set rhythm. One, to, three, four in; one, two, three four out. Now slow it down even more. And yet again even more slowly as you feel the difference this slow, rhythmic breathing makes. Soon you are flowing, gliding through your task and you have left worry in your wake.
