Do watch how you label events that occur. A malfunction is labeled “bad” and you react accordingly. A smoothly operating machine is “good,” and you react accordingly. Yes, it is helpful to react accordingly but do be aware of how the labels you put upon events cause your emotions to go up and down, down and up, keeping you forever off balance. How to stay in the center? Practice observing what is with equanimity. “This is what is happening. Isn’t that interesting? In awareness of a challenge, I am taking appropriate action.” And so it is. Can you feel the peace inherent in stepping back from labels?
