And so, you do not like the word “surrender.” It causes friction within as you consider an imbalance of power. Do you know that by resisting what is flowing around and through you, you impede the flow? “But that is exactly what I want to do!” you say, for you do not agree with what you see around you. And herein lies the paradox. If you do not resonate with what you are seeing and hearing and experiencing outside of you, something must change inside. Insights are required, and these come from flowing. Surrender does not say, “I condone this.” It is an act of relaxing into the sea from which all waves are arising and allowing yourself to be carried and lifted and inspired to action or no action. Surrendering is not weakness or strength. It is an acknowledgment of the flow and your natural place in it.
You are so very loved.
Friction is a natural reaction of the human personality, characterized as a “proud, selfish mask” that has dominated your consciousness for ages. This personality quakes in fear when its authority is challenged because it considers itself a separate entity and is “always in an attitude of fighting for and protecting its own”.
The flow corresponds to the Divine Will or the Impersonal Life that is eternally striving to manifest perfection through you. When you resist what is flowing around and through you, you are essentially letting the “separate” human mind interfere with the Divine Plan. You often exhaust yourself trying to control them with your “animal nature” and “selfish intellect”.
Surrender, in this context, is not an act of weakness but a state of “willingness,” which is one of the “secrets of mastery”. It is the ability of the soul to “abide in the Direction and Leading” of the Loving One Within. By resisting, you “impede the flow,” creating inharmony and suffering that are permitted only to teach you the futility of the separate self’s efforts.
“Something must change inside” to alter your resonance with the outside. This aligns with a fundamental law that “Whatever you think and hold in consciousness as being so, out-manifests itself in your body or affairs”. If you do not agree with what you see outside, you must “remove from your consciousness the beliefs you are holding there” and replace them with the truth of the Kingdom.
The external world you experience is often a “distorted and twisted” shadow of reality, seen through the “smoked glass” of the outer mind. To change this, “cleanse your mind” of misconceptions and misbeliefs. Insights come from “flowing” because only a stilled and quiet mind is receptive to the “impressions from the Loving One within”.
The act of “relaxing into the sea” is paralleled by the command “Be Still and Know”. This is not condoning external evil—which is an “impersonal force” born of ignorance—but rather, acknowledging your “natural place” as a center of “God’s Consciousness”.
When you surrender, you are acknowledging that the outer mind is not the doer; it is the Christ-Consciousness working through the mind. That God is the only Doer, and your role is to be a “dependable outpost” for that activity. True service is the ability to respond to life “without resistance, alibi, or justification”.
The sentiment that “you are so very loved” is the core of the Impersonal Life Teachings. The “Loving One Within”, also referred to as the Higher Self or the I AM is a Source of “Infinite Love” that has been with you, quietly waiting for you to recognize your Real Identity.
This Love is not a human emotion, but the “very substance” of your nature and the “animating and vitalizing Force” back of all life. By surrendering the struggle of the personality, you allow this “Holy Impersonal Love” to fill the void, harmonizing your life and bringing into manifestation all the good things intended for you from the beginning. Surrendering is therefore the ultimate act of trust in the One who knows the end from the beginning and who “loves and cares for you” perfectly.
I really love to surrender, it brings so much freedom. Once you have felt this energy, you always return to it because it feels like coming home.
We would all, indeed, come back… and eventuallly will stay… that’s the one way or another; and yet our question and questioning remains: ‘Why and what is it that stops us each, individually, from simply staying?´
Go figure? No. Just stay. THAT’s the ticket.
I’m not questioning everything like I used to. There are things to know, but not before it’s time. All good things will come, if we simply let them. No more projecting of the things I didn’t like about myself. No longer self conscious, now more self aware. We are all loved so deeply. I personally had to hit the bottom, not once, not twice, but many times, before I felt the love I had always wanted. It was always there inside of me. I couldn’t get out of my own way to feel it. We are never alone.
