Do not view plants as simply things. They are living beings as you are. Of course we did not say, “just as you are,” but they are sentient nonetheless. You can have a conversation with them and they will tell you many things. If you scoff at this, perhaps you have never tried. It takes a good deal of stillness to exchange information with a plant, a tree, or a cactus, but oh, they do appreciate this, for they provide you a multitude of services and are happy to tell you about these. Give it a try, why don’t you? At the very least, the stillness and your willingness to experience something out of the ordinary opens you beyond the normal constricted human state. Welcome to the plant world. You are so very loved.
It is funny. When I first heard about talking to trees and plants, I started talking to a big old oak tree by my mailbox. The second time I talked to this tree, a small twig about 12 inches long fell right in front of me on a calm day. I believe the tree was acknowledging me. I have talked to this tree just about every day since.
Thank you Sanaya.
Yes – so heartwarming and eyeopening eh! I too have a tree canopy just beyond my balcony. On a beautiful day a light breeze wafted throughout the greenspace and as i was being thankful toward the tree’s protection from the glaring sun, i found myself reaching in attempt to touch its closest twigs. As i did, that very branch continuously craned itself in my direction in an effort to reach me. Its branches were too stiff to give way and my arms too short… but the palpable love and appreciation reached us both.
