Do you savor life or rush through it?  Your eating habits may prove quite illuminating in this regard.  Do you savor every bite, noticing the flavors and the textures, feeling gratitude for the source, the provider, and the preparer of it, or do you rush through it without being aware of these things?  What are you thinking about whilst eating?  What are you doing?  Watching a television, reading a newspaper?  All of the above at once?  Now apply your answers to the rest of your life.  Is life passing you by in your rush to get somewhere, or are you savoring every morsel, every now-moment to the fullest?  It can be eye opening, this mouth opening.  Several times a day, enjoy this perfect opportunity to practice presence.
