Shifting-Gears-ART_0Where you place your focus is where you have your experience. Where does it hurt? Is that not then what you focus upon? And if, in the midst of your pain, a loud explosion distracts you, at that moment of shifting your attention, do you not during that time forget your pain? It is as if it disappears. And what of mental suffering? The more you focus upon it, the more you suffer. Can you acknowledge it and see through it? Can you shift your attention elsewhere? Not because it does not exist. You have made it real in the mind. Shift your focus in meditation and you are no longer aware of suffering. It is as if your challenges disappeared. So, are they real? What is real? When you find the answer to that question, your challenges no longer hold the same effect on you.
