Hubris. When you think you can do it better or best without assistance and come out on top. Can you sense a bit of ego entwined with this word? There is not judgment in our message today, only a hint to remain aware of how hubris can sink you when you already know how to swim. Trying to be the best, the first, the only? This can lead to a fall. Flow, dear ones. Remember to float as you rest, regroup, and listen to the guidance within.
You are so very loved.
Too funny I just told the cashier at Home Depot that “Men are useless & If I want to put up my driveway gates I will have to do it myself because i couldn’t find anyone to hire”!!
The end result is I did a search on Y-Tube & watched how to do the proper install.
“Once on top, there’s no place to go but down” is a sarcasm though situationally, occasionally, seemingly accurate. Yet the truth remains, there is always one better… be it a person, a deed, a manner, a thought or reflection etc. My dear grade 6 teacher Fred Dack had a saying: “Good, Better, Best, never let it rest, until your good is better, and your better, best. And he was such an amazing teacher, that we all aspired beyond what we “normally” would, and we reached higher than we believed we could, and achieved far beyond our dwindling wishes. And yes, “failure” was just one more step in the series of “progress”. Failure always identified a problem area. That felt good. Not too good. Just good. And success was the seeming end of one tiny goal, but then comes the time to learn how to use your success. He let us know there is no end to the series. There was always more to improve. We had no real idea of the scale of things… we just did for him with pleasure. The “grounded” man he is, NEVER once, saw himself better than us. All he saw was potential… Potential that few of us saw in each other but rejoiced when it appeared… Rejoiced in gratitude and love not arrogance.
And multitudes of days later, (a lifetime!) he still stands tall in our hearts that are beaming toward him.
The mighty don’t fall.
Very exciting! Trying to be the best and unique is against the flow… Thank you Suzanne
Unique is only against the flow in your own mind. Others will catch up or cotton-on to your angles, your ways and might (or not) appreciate you for them. The thing is, no matter how you are, no matter how you are seen by others or even to yourself, you are an integral part of the Whole and are constantly being guided just as is everyone else. Remember that old saying “My Johnny is the only one in step in the parade”?. Well, for Johnny, (and his mom) he was. That doesn’t and never will make everyone else wrong.
