Before you is an empty wall in a new house. Will you decorate the wall? You can paint on it with crayons like a child or hang a picture. Will the picture be framed? Yes, to separate it from the others you will eventually hang there. Your true nature is akin to the wall: open and teeming with limitless potential. You in human form are like the framed painting hung there. At the current time, you are a work in progress. How will you color in this specific experience you call “my life”? And Whose life is it really if One can observe from outside the painting? It is these types of questions that will lead you to the peace you seek.

21 years ago, my 19 year old son died in a car accident. Since then, I have amassed a lot of picture frames. I am also a photographer with many photographs worth hanging. The frames remain empty.
At first, I thought it was just indecision. Or laziness. In 2008, I moved into my parents’ house after they died. Since then, the only pictures I’ve hung are ones that were already framed. Some of those are just haphazardly hung where I found a nail from a previous photo.
After reading this message from Sanaya, I’m wondering if there is a hidden – or obvious – meaning to all these empty frames…

Not a one of us escapes this experience without pain, so please set the intention and begin focusing on what is going RIGHT in your life. List the things for which you’re grateful and focus on those. THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING TO BE GRATEFUL FOR. Only you can UNCOVER the peaceful state that is your natural essence. Blessings.
We are indeed the open spacious awareness. I love this analogy of the painting(s) and frames creating a sense of separateness, of individuality.. Often, of late, I have felt the sense of each and every being as an aspect of the whole, seeming to be separate characters within one vast painting. All is love, all is whole, all is Us.
